The complex import/export patterns which criss-cross world production of asparagus continue to change, and while global output is estimated to top one million tons, there has been a decline in several established industries. The 8th European two-day asparagus symposium, Euro Asper 2010, was held in Coventry, UK, March 23-25. The season was officially launched on April 23 in Evesham, once the traditional centre of production to coincide with St George's Day - the patron saint of England.
