The effect of adding P to phytosanitary sprays applied directly to guava trees (cv. Paluma) on P uptake was investigated in Brazil. Leaves were covered with an aqueous solution of monoammonium phosphate (2%) with a specific activity of 32P equal to0.15μCi/ml. P accumulation was determined for 30 days following application. About 12% of the applied P was taken up by plants after 20 days. About 20% of the P taken up by leaves was redistributed mainly to the most tender parts of the tree. It was concluded that P could be applied directly to guava trees in a combined phytosanitary product.
