English growers have fallen in love with Jazz, the trade marked New Zealand bred Gala/Braeburn hybrid which is already on sale in increasing quantities this summer in the majority of UK supermarkets. The result will be a 1 million pound planting programme by the 27 members of the industry's largest apple and pear marketing group "Worldwide Fruit" this winter, aimed at filling a seasonal gap between September and May.
