New grape varieties under way

Table grapes are the key product of the Spanish company Molin-ense Producciones Naturales S.L who market their fruits through SAT Blancasol. That's why José María Moróte, General Director of Molinense, participated in the international convention "Grape Attraction" held at the Fruit Attraction trade show in Madrid in October 2010. Moróte explains: "For grape production, new varieties are crucial. There are five companies worldwide that conduct basic research in the field of genetic multiplication. One of them is our partner company ITUM in Murcia. Our research is directed towards creating new varieties; and the results to date are very promising. First it must be tested how a variety develops, and then how it can adapt to the area of cultivation. That's why we are growing the varieties tested in field trials in plantations because we need to know how they perform in our local growing conditions.
