Fruit exports and the Panama Canal

If improvements in 2015 made the Panama Canal navigable for large container ships, it would be a breakthrough for the fruit and vegetable trade too. In October, the population of Panama agreed to make the waterway, which has existed since 1914, navigable for larger ships by adding a third system of locks.
