Good prospects for berry exports

Despite an unfavourable cost situation in production and transport, demand for Argentinean blueberries is strong. Together with Chile and Uruguay a joint promotion campaign for southern hemisphere berries is envisaged to boost sales. In the past yearsboth production and export of blueberries have grown considerably. Main sales markets are the US and Canada. According to Inés Peláez, president of the Argentinean Blueberry Committee, the advantage of the Argentinean product is the time frame, whichmeans that it arrives earlier on the markets than its competitors, as well as the growth potential of the sector.
