In the context of the first Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Agriculture, Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak will inaugurate within this month three mega water projects in El-Kanater, some 24 km north of Cairo. The irrigation plants shall help in using water more efficiently in the lower Egyptian regions. "Investment costs amount to some 120 million Egyptian Pounds," says Egyptian Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Nasr Eldin Allam. "The new Menoufia and Twafiqi canal banksand locks are also part of the projects."
