An avocado of worldwide importance

The big export companies for avocados operating worldwide came together in the congress centre Casa Piedra in Santiago de Chile on 3 and 4 May 2006 to coordinate their marketing activities. Mexico has always been the largest consumer of avocados in the world (8.5 kg per head per year). Next in line is Israel with 4 kg, Chile with 3.5 kg, France with 1.38 kg, New Zealand and the US with 1.3 kg each and South Africa with 1 kg.
