After landing at the Alice Springs Airport, we rented a car. Upon departing for town, we noticed the Parks and Wildlife Department building to our right. We stopped and inquired about where to go and what we should see. My son Tim and I received royaltreatment from the staff there who provided us with introductions to key government staff members who helped us with this article. Our thanks to all of them! We were advised about a special industry rate at the superior Crowne Plaza hotel; we stayed there. An added bonus was the hotel's tame pet peacock, Andrew (background photo), who daily ate raisins and other treats from our hands.
