A 30 per cent increase in the price of wax had sounded another death knell for wax cartons, Craig Madden of Amcor told growers during a recent visit to the company's factory at Rocklea. "Wax cartons are on their way out," Mr Madden said. "Wax is an oil based product and will continue to increase in price. Wax boxes are used in the supply chain's fresh produce cooling process but there are now other alternatives such as PET laminated cartons that are recyclable."
