New Brunswick apple grower Blair Stirling started about 20 Honeycrisp in his Gagetown orchard last year. Honeycrisp produces large juicy fruit that can be displayed and sold individually, a comer of the market that has been the preserve of imported varieties. Stirling, one of the largest growers in the province, hopes this apple will give producers an entree into that higher priced market.
