FERC CERTIFICATES THE EMPIRE PIPELINE'S TIOGA COUNTY EXTENSION AND BI-DIRECTIONAL FLOW PROPOSAL TO TAP MARCELLUS SHALE GAS

Empire Pipeline, Inc. (CP10-493) was cleared by a vote at FERC's open meeting on May 19 to construct, operate, and replace facilities in New York and Pennsylvania named the Tioga County Extension Project. The Tioga County project entails installing approximately 15 miles of 24-inch diameter pipeline to extend the Empire Connector from its interconnection with Millennium Pipeline Co. LLC near Corning, New York to interconnections with two natural gas gathering systems in Tioga County, Pennsylvania; (2) an interconnection with the facilities of Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. in Hopewell, New York; and (3) modifications to Empire's Oakfield Compressor Station to permit bi-directional flow on its system. In addition, Empire will replace approximately 1.36 miles of its existing Original Empire Pipeline near Victor (Lift-and-Lay section) with higher-rated pipe, together with modifications to its New Victor and Old Victor pressure regulating stations.
