Recommendations of the German Scientific Council considering Forest Sciences in the context of the cross section evaluation in agricultural sciences.

As a result from the cross section evaluation in the field of agricultural sciences, it can be noted that the Forest Sciences have picked up successfully the scientifically-, politically- and socially-driven structural changes in the German Forestry-Wood sector. The forest faculties have managed more or less to adapt themselves to the upcoming challenges and chances (e.g., climate change, renewable resources, bio-economy and wood and forest technology) by thematical differentiation and restructuring of their profile without losing the basics of forest science. Networking activities together with other faculties and other research institutions are the important aspects to be considered in this context.
