Oregon LNG Provides FERC with Comprehensive Rebuttal to the Sierra Club, Clatsop County Residents, Plus Oregon’s Department of Energy and Department of Land Conservation and Development

The LNG Development Co., LLC and Oregon Pipeline Co., LLC (together Oregon LNG) (CP09-6) blasted motions filed at FERC by Clatsop County, Oregon and the Sierra Club. Separately, Oregon LNG also moved under Rule 212 of the Commission’s rules to address comments filed by the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) and the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD). In sum, the Oregon LNG project developer claimed Sierra Club’s arguments that the project’s economic harms outweigh its benefits are all disconnected from actual facts pertaining to the project, and based on the same broad-based speculation and extrapolation that render the effects of induced production of natural gas “non-cognizable indirect effects” for purposes of the Commission’s NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) analysis.
