摘要

According to a recent survey conducted by the Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions, most Americans think that the benefits of shale gas production outweigh the risks. Many also think that using natural gas to generate electricity can significantly reduce the nation's carbon footprint. Roughly 54% of survey respondents indicated that regulation of shale development was -just right" or -evolving, but on the right track." Approximately 20% thought that there was too much regulation, 16% said there was too little regulation, and 10% said that they were not sure. "A majority of Americans think developing natural gas by tapping shale formations offers greater rewards than it does risks, including those associated with hydraulic fracturing," Deloitte concluded.
