FERC Report on Enforcement Activities Affirms Prescription for Self- Reporting Violations but Investigations Became More Numerous in 2008

FERC's annual report on 2008 Enforcement activities, issued 11/6/08, shows a "rise in the number and quality of self-reports and an increase in referrals from regional market monitors," and provides information on settlements. The Commission in May instructed Enforcement staff to produce an annual statistical report at the end of each fiscal year. This report is the first formal annual statistical report, and includes an overview and statistics regarding the activities of Enforcement, including Division of Investigations, the Division of Audits, the Division of Energy Market Oversight, and the Division of Financial Regulation.
