Kinder Morgan Interstate Seeks FERC Authorization to Fix and Replace Older Style Pipeline in Nebraska with Larger Pipeline That Can Serve a New Ethanol Plant

Kinder Morgan Interstate Gas Transmission LLC (KMIGT) (CP10:472) submitted a filing with FERC giving prior notice that it intends to (1) replace approximately 11.4 miles of its 16-inch Franklin-to-Hastings pipeline with 20-inch pipe located in Adams County, Nebraska; and (2) construct ancillary facilities. The project is referred to as the "Franklin to Hastings Expansion Project." The incremental capacity created by the proposed 20-inch pipeline will address safety issues related to the existing pipeline's design and primarily to serve a new ethanol plant which will help meet the goals set by the national "Renewable Fuel Program" (RFP) provided under an amended Clean Air Act.
