Special Report: Natural Gas Is Champion Fuel at World Energy Congress - Shale Gale, Revolution, Innovation

The five-day World Energy Congress (WEC 2010) kicked off on Sunday 9/12/10 at the Palais de Congres, Montreal, Canada, with official remarks on behalf of the Minister of Natural Resources Canada, welcoming an audience of an estimated 5,000 delegates. The gathering of professionals and government representatives was working within the framework of an increasingly interlinked matrix of energy supply and delivery operations worldwide. The conclave was referred to more than once by presenters as a satellite dialogue within a chain of forums and discussions of energy implications of global economic stress -including the G8 held in Canada earlier this year and the upcoming fifth G20 economic summit in Seoul, Korea in November, as well as the Copenhagen U.N. climate change meeting late last year. The four general discussion topics during this congress were (1) accessibility, (2) availability, (3) acceptability, and (4) accountability. The role of natural gas as a bridge fuel, and even an end game fuel, for a future worldwide regime of energy efficiency, safety and cleanliness was one major talking point.
