Chestnut Ridge Storage LLC (CP08-36) got the go-ahead from FERC to construct and operate the Junction Natural Gas Storage Project and to provide firm and interruptible storage and hub services as well as interruptible wheeling service. The plan is to convert the West Summit Field - a natural gas reservoir that is not yet depleted - for storage service. The reservoir and a buffer zone are primarily located in Fayette County, southwestern Pennsylvania, but extend into Monongalia and Preston Counties in the northern part of West Virginia. The facilities will have a total storage capacity of 29.109 Bcf, including 25 Bcf of working gas, as well as maximum injection and withdrawal capabilities of 500 MMcf/d. Chestnut Ridge submitted a market power analysis in support of its request for market-based rates.
