American Gas Foundation and IHS CERA Unveil Study that Highlights Benefits of Natural Gas and Focuses on the Retail Sector

On 1/16/14 the American Gas Foundation and IHS CERA held a joint event in Washington, D.C. to unveil a comprehensively researched study entitled Fueling the Future with Natural Gas: Bringing it Home. The report was presented as the successor to the original 2001 “Fueling the Future” study and highlights the domestic expansion and growth opportunities natural gas provides to all sectors of the economy, including residential, industrial, power and transportation. According to Dave McCurdy, president and CEO, American Gas Association (AGA), the new report confirms that natural gas is affordable and will be affordable for a very long time. The new reality is that natural gas will be stable, affordable, and abundant. The U.S., according to McCurdy, has been given the opportunity to provide this resource very competitively. Now Americans need to focus on how to get gas to consumers and to determine what are the obstacles. “Americans need to look at how to make sure access more available and how to incentivize it.” The study does that, according to AGA’s CEO.
