PERC Sends Phelps Dodge Packing by Rejecting Long-Pending Disputes with El Paso Natural Gas' Rate Settlement in 2006

FERC has been trying to clean up disputes over issues affecting the system of El Paso Natural Gas Co. (RP05-422) that have lingered for years. On August 24, the Commission dealt with one bundle of issues raised on rehearing and denied the petitions for reconsideration (see adjacent article). Last week, a FERC order issued 8/17/10 disposed of a request of Phelps Dodge Corp. in October 2007 for rehearing and clarification of the Commission's 8/31/07 order that approved an Offer of Settlement involving certain remaining issues in the pipeline's last rate case.
