Northern Customer Group Tells Industrials Their Discomfort with Termination of Northern's Rate Case Cannot Match Reasoning for the FERC's Decision Provided by Commissioners Spitzer and Norris

FERC's May 27 grant of a motion of the pipeline company and of the Northern Customer Group to terminate the section 5 investigation of the rates of Northern Natural Gas Co. (RP10-148) continues to stir debate among the parties about the justification and consequences of that decision. In the latest round of comments, the Northern Customer Group defended the Commission's logic against criticism in a rehearing petition, lodged 6/28/10, by the Process Gas Consumer Group, the American Forest & Paper Association and the United States Gypsum Co. (the "Industrials"). The customers argued, in fact, that the Commission's order was fully explained "in the carefully reasoned concurring opinions of Commissioners Norris and Spitzer."
