The former president of Bolivian state oil company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos was detained for questioning by prosecutors in La Paz, days after he was sacked by the government over allegations around a flawed contract process. The former chief, Guillermo Acha, voluntarily gave a statement to the public prosecutor on Monday afternoon, then was arrested and held in jail overnight, said his lawyer Hector Castellon, who called the arrest 'abusive and arbitrary.' He is being investigated for 'anti-economic conduct,' contracts that were harmful to the state, undue use of influence, concealment and failure to comply with duties, said Castellon.
