SAFETY DISCORD: Dramatic scenes at FISA's January meeting

Having driven over 300 miles to attend the January meeting of the Forest Industry Safety Accord (FISA) on 24 January, Donald Maclean, Chairman of the Forestry Contracting Association, was refused entry. Instead, he was ushered into a side room while avote was taken as to whether he should be expelled. He requested that he be allowed to state his case, but this was refused. The reason for the showdown was an outspoken article January's FCA News (reproduced on the next page) in which Donald Maclean accuses FISA chairman Steve Lavery of acting in an autocratic and dictatorial manner, and of failing to consider the interests of contractors.
