The last issue of 'essentialArb' looked at the specifications and common characteristics of nursery stock. We saw that-bare-root stock is available in a range of sizes, from transplants to standards. Plant establishment generally increases in difficulty as stock size increases but establishment success can also be influenced by the production method. Most standard-sized stock is available in three production methods: bare-root, root-balled and container-grown.
