Recirculating Aquaculture Conference highlights shrimp culture

THE 5 super(th) International Conference on Recirculating Aquaculture was held in Roanoke, Virginia, USA on July 22-25, 2004. This biennial conference and trade show brings together engineers, biologists, farm managers, government officials, entrepreneurs, extension agents, and others to discuss various aspects about recirculating aquaculture. For the second consecutive conference, a special symposium was held on the use of recirculating systems in penaeid shrimp culture. Interest in recirculating systems to culture these warm-water, commercially important shrimp has increased over the past several years because recirculating systems offer several advantages over traditional shrimp farming methods.
