FIBRE SUPPLY AND DEMAND: What are the implications of a shortfall in timber supply in Scotland and the North of England?

ConFor's chief executive David Crichton chaired a meeting on February 1, at which key industry players were invited to discuss the implications and seek solutions to the possible predicted scenario painted by the recent study on fibre demand and supply (see FBT January 07). The study, 'Forecast wood fibre availability and demand in Scotland and Northern England to 2016'*, commissioned by an industry grouping, considered existing demands and planned timber-using developments.
