Two Scottish seafood farmers are to launch an IMTA project to fulfill demand for sustainable, local productLoch Fyne Oysters and the Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) will start trialing integrated aquaculture of salmon, mussels, oysters and seaweed, Loch Fyne said."We have done some research into integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) and we'll gradually increase our efforts in this," Loch Fyne's CEO, Bruce Davidson, told FFI."We'll probably have a few hiccups on the way, but that's to be expected!"Last month Loch Fyne which farms oysters, mussels and operates a smokery from its site at Cairndow in Scotland - announced that it was taken over by Scottish Seafood Investments, a joint venture between SSC and SSC's majority owner.
