Breakthrough in lobster breeding

RESEARCH into techniques for successfully maturing royal spiny lobster (Pan-ulirus regius) in captivity and its breeding is being car-rie'd out at the Guia Marine Laboratory, part of the University of Lisbon's Department of Zoology in Portugal, by DrOrlando Luis, reports BERNADETTE TOURNAY. As there is currently no investment in spiny lobster aquaculture in Portugal, Luis' research is the result of a personal interest in which he is supported by his R&D unit at the university.
