Growing interest in fish welfare

FISH welfare attracted considerable attention at the International Fish Biology Congress, held in Newfoundland, Canada in July. Researchers from around the world presented and discussed a range of welfare topics that included fish physiology, behaviour and legislation. The diversity of the material covered emphasised just how far the field offish welfare has come in a relatively short period of time, but some of the talks warned that there is still much more for us to learn.
