BIOTECHNOLOGY is a term with a myriad of definitions. In a broad sense, biotechnology refers to the use of biological processes to produce useful organisms or products and includes traditional biotechnologies, reproductive technologies, and gene technologies. The application of biotechnology in shrimp aquaculture already has had a significant impact on the global shrimp farming industry, and there is an expectation that biotechnology will play an even greater role in the future.
