摘要

A cloned transforming growth factor (TGF)-eta, isolated from hybrid striped bass anterior kidney mononuclear cells contains an open reading frame of 1146 bases encoding a 382 amino acid protein with 57.3 and 78.6% identity to the precursor and active protein of rainbow trout TGF-beta and 41.1 and 68.8% identity to the corresponding rat TGF-beta. Polymerase chain reaction with consensus primers specifically amplified a TGF-eta segment from 14 teleost species representing 10 taxonomic families in7 orders. A reverse transcriptase competitive polymerase chain reaction detected higher levels of TGF-beta mRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells than in spleen and anterior kidney.
