摘要

The Forest Society today owns more than 4,000 acres of land on Mt. Monadnock, the stewardship of which has at least three pieces—none of which is easy. First is the management of the land itself. We lease it to the State of New Hampshire for the operation of Monadnock State Park. At the same time, part of our stewardship of this, the largest of our forest reservations, includes active forest management on about 1,000 acres, the set-aside of more than 3,000 acres as an eco-reserve, and the active maintenance of dozens of miles of trails on an annual basis. All of this is done in collaboration with the state park staff and the Monadnock Advisory Commission, a legislatively chartered citizens advisory committee.
