Director John Pottle welcomed an audience of over 70 members and friends before handing over to Treasurer Paul Hanna for the financial report. Paul reported that the RIN had maintained a healthy cashflow throughout the pandemic. Membership income was secured as forecast. Investment income was larger than forecast. No structural changes were required to the employee base nor government support required. In short: the RIN exceeded expectations. President Cynthia Robinson was represented at the AGM by Past President James Taylor Cynthia had very much wanted to be there but unfortunately succumbed to COVID the day before. She was devastated to miss the festivities. James relayed her message to the crowd.This message was one of thanks and anticipation for the future.The President's review announced the opportunity for members to help young people build successful careers in Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) through a gift in their Will as part of the RIN's new Great Circle initiative. Noting that we now have a panel of experts ready to represent the RIN, the President shared that the RIN is determined to speak with a louder voice. With two new groups (the Outdoor Adventure Navigation Group and the UK PNT Advisory Group), one reinvigorated group (the Maritime Navigation Group), and an attractive new membership fee structure for younger people, the RIN is very much working towards a strong future. Cynthia also passed on her sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who make the RIN what it is.
