Quentin Gregory: Adapting for Growth

Quentin Gregory's time as a land steward began in 1952 when he purchased a a62-acre parcel from his grandmother's estate. In 1956, Quentin purchased his second parcel of land, this time from his grandfather's estate. After serving in and surviving through the Civil War in the i86os, including time spent in a Union army prisoner of war camp following the Battle of Gettysburg, John T. Gregory returned to Halifax, North Carolina. In 1880, he purchased nearly 2,000 acres in central Halifax County, whichhe farmed for multiple crops. At the time of his passing, the remaining six living children of an original ten sought to settle the estate by selling the property. Quentin's interest provided an opportunity to keep the property in the family.
