Reversing left ventricular hypertrophy is an important goal in antihypertensive therapy, as hypertrophy increases the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in people with hypertension. Elevated renin angiotensin aldosterone is correlated with left ventricular hypertrophy, but the benefits of blocking aldosterone remain uncertain.
