The following information provides an awareness of problems that might be avoided in the future. Theinformation is based on nal reports by o cial investigative authorities on aircraft accidents and incidents. While preparing for a ight to Mumbai, India, the evening of Aug. 30, 2016, both pilots completedperformance calculations for takeoff from London Heathrow Airport’s Runway 27L. The commander’scalculations were based on using the full length of the runway. The copilot assumed that, due to taxiwayclosures, the takeoff would be initiated from an intersection. She found that a departure from the rstavailable intersection could be conducted safely. The copilot’s calculations assumed different takeoff speedsand thrust and ap settings than those derived by the commander for a full-length takeoff.
