can think of no better way to contribute to the academic advancement of foot and ankle surgery than to hold the position as editor of a major peer-reviewed journal.Il is with this in mind that I humbly take on the role of co-editor of Foot & Ankle Specialist (FAS) with Greg Berlet.My family has been involved with foot and ankle surgery for more than 45 years. I basically grew up in the clinic and operating room. As a child, I went on rounds with my father on the weekends and helped take pictures of title slides for lectures. As a teenager, I videotaped and edited surgical videos for academic presentation. As a young adult, I helped organize programs for academic congresses. Throughout all these experiences, foot and ankle surgery became ingrained in my soul. Many asked why I decided to go into the profession I have chosen. Truly, I cannot think of when the decision was made but rather it was always a foregone conclusion by me.
