My dedicated, if dramatic dining friend from Melbourne had arrived in search of - as she put it -"Veuve and views". Aah Sydney... a chance to redeem myself in the eyes of my family, place of employment and even my beloved editor who has been hinting that I've become a Victoriophile and abandoned the gastronomic pleasures of Sydney in favour of the dark lanes and dangerous holes-in-walls of Melbourne.
