FDA's Food Program Priorities Measure Up: 2003 In Review

In November 2003, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) issued its end-of-year report on FDA's Foods Program Priorities. These program priorities were goals FDA intended to meet during fiscal year (FY) 2003 and were the most ambitious yet, with 150 "A" list, or highest priority, goals. Despite the large number of priority items, CFSAN completed 92% of its "A" list goals (138 out of 150 goals). This achievement reflects the success of a management strategy that focuses CFSAN resources on issues that most benefit American consumers
