Congenital Pseudarthrosis of the Tibia Treated with Intramedullary Rodding and Cortical Bone Grafting: a Follow-up Study at Skeletal Maturity

Thirty-eight children who presented with congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia were treated with excision of the pseudarthrosis followed by transar-ticular intramedullary rodding and onlay autoagenous cortical bone grafting. Eleven of the 38 have since reached skeletal maturity and were evaluated. Their mean age at presentation was 3.1 years (range, 0.4 to 7), their mean age at index surgery was 3.3 years, and their mean age at latest follow-up was 18.4 years (range, 16 to 21.6). Nine of the 11 were boys.
