摘要

I read the recent publication by Johnson et al. In this work, the time domain and spectral domain optical coherence tomography systems were compared. Johnson et al. concluded that "significant differences exist between RNFL measurements obtained from the TD and SD OCT systems used in this study." There are some concerns about this work. First, the small number of tested eyes in the study might be a weakness. Second, there is no information on the quality control of the instrument for measurement in both systems. A common cause of aberration in laboratory diagnostic tests is the error of the analytical tool. In addition, pre-analytical factors, such as the preparation of patients as well as the practitioner's experience, should be a concern.
