摘要

A new necrotic subgroup of potato virus Y (PVYN) causes significant losses to potato crops in Poland, but a genetically modified potato cultivar with resistance to PVYN has been developed. This study compared nutritional properties of these GM potatoes when introduced at a high level (40%) into rat diets. The results showed the genetic status of the potato to have no effect on caecal mass and digesta, the ecosystem of the caecum, the activities of serum enzymes (aspartate and alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase) and non-specific defence mechanisms of the rats.
