BPA researcher fights back against criticism of her studies

The polarizing debate regarding the safety of bisphenol A has taken to the commentary pages of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences'journal Environmental Health Perspectives in recent weeks.The researcher behind two much-criticized papers FDA relied on its draft assessment deeming BPA safe for use in food contact applications-an assessment which the agency has since decided to revisit-is now leveling some criticism of her own against naysayers of her work.RTI International Distinguished Fellow Rochelle Tyl and her two studies that found no evidence of harm from low dose exposure to BPA have faced an onslaught of criticism, culminating in a commentary authored by 36 scientists that appeared online in EHP last October.
