FDA policing GRAS caims by food industry

FDA is ramping up its surveillance efforts of food companies that made claims for"generally recognized as safe"substances, an agency source told Food Chemical News.The ompany intends to use the substance in tem infant formula, at a maximum level of 1.88% of total dietary fat when used in combination with docosahexaenoic acid-rich sing-cell oil (DHASCO); as a source of docosahexaenoec acid at a maximum level of 1.25% of the total dietary fat and at ratio ranging from 1:1 to 1:2(DHASCO:rasco).
