Representatives from the four federal agencies that regulate food, advertising and public health this week unveiled a preliminary draft of guidelines they are developing to help Congress decide what foods should not be marketed to children.Speaking to a packed room of more than 200 people at a Dec. 15 Federal Trade Commission-sponsored forum on food marketing and childhood obesity, officials from FTC, FDA, USDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention described how the agencies have been working together through a task force called the Interagency Working Group on Food Marketed to Children, which was established by language in the fiscal year 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act.
