Coexistence among biotech, conventional and organic crops is currently happening fairly well in the United States but will face challenges in the future, USDA's Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21 st Century Agriculture (AC21) said in an eight-page consensus paper released last week. The paper seeks to answer a charge put to the AC21 by then-Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns: "What issues should USDA consider regarding coexistence among diverse agricultural systems in a dynamic, evolving and complex marketplace?"
