Minimum wage increase would have greater impact on food system than on overall economy

The demographics and job characteristics of employees in the US food industry are examined to provide an insight into how a change to the minimum wage will affect employment and income among food system workers. The data are drawn from the Current Population Survey earnings files (n=47 000). A profile of workers who would be most affected by a change in the minimum wage is presented.
