United States pleased with Codex meeting outcome

The United States was pleased with the results of the Codex Alimentarius Commission meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, early this month, according to a report issued Thursday by U.S. Delegate Richard Raymond, USDA undersecretary for food safety. "The commission adopted a large number of standards, many of which are of importance to the United States; agreed to substantial new work; and considered a number of areas that significantly impact on the work of Codex, e.g., the Codex budget, committee structure and mandates, strategic plan, and participation of developing countries in the work of Codex," he said.
