Whether to allow beef and pork products to be imported from Argentina is no different. On July 16, NCBA released a statement urging the U.S. Senate to vote "no" on the Foot and Mouth Disease Prevention Act, an amendment introduced by Sen. Tim Johnson (D- S.D.) that would ban the import of all livestock from Argentina until the USDA is certain that nation is free ofFMD, a highly contagious infection found in cloven-hoofed animals.
